Hello, my name is Sylvia Setterberg.  This is my 6th year teaching at Hawthorn Academy. As the ESL District Coordinator and an ESL teacher, I am passionate about empowering English Language Learners to thrive academically and culturally.  With a Masters of Arts in English Language Learning, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (K-6) and an ELL Endorsement (Western Governors University), I bring a strong foundation in education tailored to diverse learners. I work closely with ELL students to foster language development, confidence, and academic success through engaging, student-centered instruction.  My goal is to build a supportive community where every student and educator feels equipped to succeed. I am excited for the new school year at Hawthorn Academy.  

Previously, I taught Kindergarten and worked in the interior design field.  I enjoy spending my spare time with my family (including two beautiful granddaughters), traveling, hiking, reading, and learning new things.
