Hi everyone! I’m Mr. Layden, and I’m super excited to start the school year with you here at Hawthorn Academy! I’ll be teaching College & Career Awareness and Digital Literacy, and I can’t wait to get started.

Before I became a teacher, I worked in a bunch of different areas like management, sales & marketing, hospitality, and coaching. Now, I get to take everything I’ve learned and help you build skills that actually matter in the real world—whether you already know what you want to do in the future or you're still figuring it out (which is totally okay!).

One of the best parts of teaching for me is helping students like you realize your potential and prepare for life after school—whatever that looks like for you.

A little about me: I’m married to my best friend, Jaime, and we have four kids and six awesome grandkids. When I’m not teaching or coaching, I love to travel, try new foods (I’m a total foodie), and spend time with my family and friends.

I’m looking forward to getting to know all of you and making this a great year together!
