Biography

My name is Melanie Morales. Hawthorn is constantly growing, and thanks to that, so is our Counseling Center! Now, we have two school counselors, and I am grateful to be the Elementary School Counselor!

I’m from the Boston area of Massachusetts, but I’ve been in Utah for about 7 years now. My father is from Costa Rica, which means yo hablo Español! I enjoy Latin/hip-hop dancing, basketball, eating pasta, reading fantasy books, and visiting different National Parks with my husband. And one day, it is my dream to own a pug! 

I have a Bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in Psychology and am currently in my last year at University of Utah working towards Master’s in School Counseling. I’ve been working at different mental health treatment centers with kids/adults for the past 5 years. Because of that, I have found that I LOVE working with kids the most, and that’s why I am a school counselor! I love that kids aren’t afraid to dance and be silly, and I can’t wait to dance and be silly with the kids here at Hawthorn!
