Biography

Hello! My name is Ms. Melanie, otherwise known as, Ms. M&M! 

I’m from the Boston area of Massachusetts, but I’ve been in Utah for a while now. My father is from Costa Rica, which means yo hablo Español! I’m in the Protos House (our house is the best!). Come meet the Protos mascot, Mr. Bear who lives in my office. I enjoy Latin/hip-hop dancing, basketball, eating pasta, reading fantasy books, and playing with my French Bulldog puppy! 

I have a Bachelor’s degree from BYU in Psychology and a Master’s of Educational Psychology specializing in School Counseling from the University of Utah. I’ve been working at different mental health treatment centers with kids and adults for the past 5 years, and because of that, I have found that I LOVE working with kids the most! That’s why I love being a school counselor! I love that kids aren’t afraid to dance and be silly. I can’t wait to dance and be silly with the kids here at Hawthorn!
