My name is Melanie Cox, and I am looking forward to another year as a Special Education Teacher at Hawthorn Academy- South Jordan. After being a Hawthorn Academy parent since its inception with the West Jordan campus, I began my career at the South Jordan campus in 2018 as a Special Education Paraeducator. I received my Master’s degree in Elementary and Special Education from Grand Canyon University in 2024.

I am excited about working with the special education students and am committed to fostering their growth and development throughout the year. My goal is  to create an environment where students feel safe, have fun, and learn every day.

Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, including my dogs. I also love  playing and listening to music and riding my motorcycle.
