Biography

I currently sit on the Board of Directors of Hawthorn Academy, and have been with Hawthorn since its inception. I was intrigued and impressed with the IB attitudes, values, and learning profiles the moment I heard them, and I knew this was something I wanted to have in my children's school. I am in "awe" at what Hawthorn has become and am anxious to see what the future holds for this great school.

I have a variety of work experience from being a preschool instructor to a bill collector, however, it is my four young children that have created my love for education and a desire to see our educational system excel. My family believes strongly in working hard and playing hard. When I am not helping at the school, I am in the car driving to piano, band, robotics, scouts (girls and boys), preschool, soccer, soccer, and more soccer. In my free time I am volunteering as a girl-scout leader, room mom, star tutor, and in my church. If I happen to get a moment for myself, I love to digitally scrapbook, read, and watch a good game of soccer. I love to laugh and don't even mind being laughed at, which happens regularly.

I consider Hawthorn to be one of my top life achievements, just below my children, and look forward to watching it continue to excel.
