4th Grade

Hi! I’m Mrs. Wright, and I teach 4th grade math here at Hawthorn. I graduated from Grand Canyon University with a degree in Elementary Education, and I’ve loved every minute of being in the classroom (well, maybe not every minute—looking at you, indoor recess days).

I actually started my teaching journey in a dance studio, where I taught kids how to move with rhythm and confidence. Somewhere between teaching pirouettes and jazz hands, I realized I had a knack for explaining things in a way that clicked—and that maybe I could trade the dance floor for the classroom. Turns out, teaching math is kind of like choreography: there are steps, patterns, and the occasional dramatic flair.

When I’m not in the classroom solving problems (math-related or otherwise), I’m spending time with my husband and our amazing daughter, Maeve. She’s already trying to run the household, and I’m just along for the ride.

I believe learning should be fun, engaging, and filled with moments that make students feel like rockstars—especially when they finally “get” something they’ve been struggling with. I love helping my students build confidence in math and showing them that numbers aren't as scary as everyone says they are.
