Heather Allen

Special Education

Heather Allen is a dedicated Special Education Teacher with over 23 years of experience working with children and adults with disabilities. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where she majored in psychology and minored in at risk child and youth care, Heather has built a diverse career grounded in advocacy, support, and education.

After earning her degree, Heather began her career as a developmental specialist, focusing on early intervention for children aged 0 to 3 years. She then took on the role of Director at a nonprofit organization, where she specialized in professional parenting for adults with disabilities. Driven by a commitment to improving lives, Heather later served as a Director for a facility dedicated to providing employment opportunities for adults with disabilities.

Although she found fulfillment in these roles, Heather missed the direct connection with children, which led her back to the classroom. After obtaining her teaching certificate, she became a Special Education Teacher in a self-contained classroom at a local high school. Her passion for teaching was evident, and after gaining valuable experience, she accepted an opportunity to direct a local daycare facility. During this time, Heather was instrumental in opening an ABA and therapeutic childcare center, furthering her impact on the community.

Despite these achievements, Heather's love for teaching never waned. With a renewed focus on supporting students and families, she has returned to the classroom, eager to empower students to reach their full potential. Outside of work, Heather is a proud spouse and parent to a wonderful four-year-old son and enjoys spending time with her three beloved dogs.

Heather looks forward to partnering with students and parents to create a supportive and enriching learning environment.
