I am excited to join the Hawthorn team as the Special Education Director and have the opportunity to work with our amazing special education team. This will be my 12th year in education. I have worked as an elementary special education teacher, a middle school special education teacher, and as a special education teacher lead. 

It wasn’t until I was in college when I realized Special Education was the career path for me when I had the opportunity to work as a paraeducator for a local charter school in North Salt Lake. Being able to build relationships with students and see their successes was amazing. 

I grew up in the Salt Lake Valley and currently reside in Magna with my husband and our daughter. I graduated from the University of Utah (GO UTES!!) with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and later graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Master’s degree in Special Education. 

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, doing random arts and crafts, and crocheting.
