Jason Guy

My name is Jason Guy and I am a 7th Grade Science and 9th Grade Earth Science teacher at Hawthorn Academy. I attended school at Utah State University and in 2022 achieved my Bachelor’s Degree in Earth Science Teaching with a Minor in Film Studies. This will be my first year teaching, so I am very excited to get into the world of education and share my love of science with students! My outlook on teaching is to, more than anything, make a genuine connection with the students and show that I am there for them and care about them as people. Seeing a student succeed and become a confident person is one of the most rewarding things I could experience so that is my goal!

Some things about me are that I was born in Southern California in Fullerton, then moved to Cedar City, Utah, where I grew up and now I live in Sandy. I am a person who loves the outdoors and enjoys things like rock climbing, snowboarding, and hiking. However, I am a true nerd at heart and I absolutely adore film, television, books (and comic books), and video games. Some favorites include Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Jaws, and The Batman. I love the power of storytelling to impact the lives of people for generations and I think that it is a gift.

I am hopeful that this is going to be a great year and I can’t wait for school to start! See you soon!
