Part-time Administrator- South Jordan Campus
I am Michelle Petrulsky. I teach 6th grade social studies, as well as offer administrative support for Hawthorn Academy. I am excited to use my prior experience in the business world and education to support the students, families and faculty of Hawthorn. I believe that every child is capable of learning and all students perform their best when they have teachers who see their good qualities and believe in them. I believe in a whole child educational approach, focusing on the child, knowing that the content learning will follow. I encourage a positive attitude and kindness, using the IB learner profile as a guideline to student expectations. Helping students build confidence is my key to teaching.
I was born in Oklahoma, then raised my own family in Arizona. Since moving to Utah, 6 years ago, I have been dedicated to serving students at our West Jordan Hawthorn campus. I have a BS in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University, and an MS in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University.
I have always loved children. In the past, I have been a director of a preschool, a Sunday school teacher, a volunteer at my own daughter's school and an emergency foster parent. My hobbies include reading, drawing and listening to all kinds of music. I also enjoy volunteering at the local veteran's home, alongside my husband of almost 30 years.
I look forward to my new role at the South Jordan campus, here at Hawthorn Academy.
