National School Lunch Program
Hawthorn Academy offers the National School Lunch Program as an option for all students.
Hawthorn Academy's lunch program follows the federal guideline called Offer vs. Serve. All students are offered all menu items. Students have the right to refuse all but three items of their choosing. One of the chosen three items must be a vegetable or a fruit (at least 1/2 cup).
School lunch costs $2.60/day for K-5th grades and $2.85/day for 6th-9th grades.

We are currently providing lunches free of charge to all Hawthorn students, including students participating in online learning.
Free and Reduced Lunch
Online Learning School Lunch
You are welcome to order a lunch for your students on the days they are doing online learning. Please place your order online a week in advance in order to allow our kitchens time to prepare. These lunches cost the same as in-school lunches (if you receive free or reduced lunches, these are as well). Lunches can be picked up Monday-Thursday from 11:15-11:45 and Fridays from 10:30-11:00. Please pull up to the front entrance, and someone will bring the food to your vehicle.
Online School Lunch Balance
You can check your student's balance at any time by logging into your family's Aspire account. The Lunch Account heading on the right hand side will display your student's current balance. (Your student's account balance will only reflect the current term. To check a past term's balance, log into Aspire and select Reports at the top of the page. Select Account Balance from the Reports menu, select your student, select their campus, and select Term 1 to see the entire year).
If you need to set up your Aspire account, you will need to click here to register your account. Enter your student's ID (this is a four digit number your student has probably memorized as their lunch number, or you can call the front office to obtain it) and birth date. You will need to choose a username and password to complete the process.
Online School Lunch Payments
You can make an online payment from inside your Aspire account (click Make A Payment under the Lunch Account heading) or using our Instant Payments link. You can also make payments with check or cash in the front office.
Payments may take up to 48 hours to be reflected accurately on all accounts.

Lunch options vary between campuses. At West Jordan, students can choose to enter the hot lunch line or the grab and go line. In the hot lunch line, they are offered a hot entree, a hot vegetable, and can also make selections from the full salad and fruit bar. In the grab and go line, students may choose from boxed meals prepared by our kitchen staff. A salad and a sandwich are available each day to choose from. Sides are included in the box and so grab and go students may not make selections from salad and fruit bar. All students may also choose a milk.
At West Jordan, students can also make purchases from our a la cart selections. These offerings are not a part of our federal school lunch program and do not qualify for free and reduced lunch assistance. Students will be charged for these items regardless of their free and reduced lunch status. These items vary but may include extra milks ($0.35), bottled water ($1.00), a variety of juices ($0.75-$2.25), chips or cereal ($0.50), and yogurt parfaits ($1.50). If your child has purchased these items on their lunch account, you can view a list of their specific purchases in their Aspire account.
