My name is Angela Anderson and I am thrilled to be teaching fifth grade at Hawthorn Academy! I graduated with honors earning a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix.
My philosophy? I believe in teaching students that hard work pays off! I personally love life and learning and enjoy sharing my enthusiasm for learning with children. As a lifelong advocate for learning, I believe that all children have the right to learn, that my role as a teacher is to nurture, and that students must be accountable for their learning. I understand the value of diversity in a classroom - especially diverse learners - and I strive to meet students' individual learning needs. I believe that students must feel loved, valued, and accepted before learning can take place. I am committed to making my classroom a safe place for all students. I believe in teaching children to responsibly do their best and to take pride in the work they do.
I feel fortunate to teach at an IB school and am committed to incorporating into my teaching the positive character traits and attitudes the International Baccalaureate program offers.
When I am not in the classroom I can be found spending time with my wonderful family. My husband and two children mean the world to me. I appreciate nature and exploring the world around me. I love to travel, especially anywhere near the ocean. I enjoy taking trips to Disneyland and visiting museums, aquariums, and National Parks. I strive to stay physically active and love tennis, running, biking, and hiking.
