My name is Joylynne Brown. I believe all children can learn, and that teaching and learning is fun! I am so passionate about learning that I left my career, and went back to school later in my life. I earned an Elementary Education Degree with a Science Teaching Minor at the University of Utah.
I have been involved with education in many different forms for the past 15 years. I have led and taught a science co-op team of 4th to 7th graders, started up and ran a physical fitness/Literacy group, and was a general classroom teacher in both private and public schools for about 4 years. I thoroughly enjoy teaching students what to learn, but also how to learn, and to instill in them a love of learning. My greatest delights are helping a student move from, "I can't" to, "I got it!"
Times when I'm not thinking about or planning for my class, I like to be outdoors and active. I believe in being healthy in mind, body and spirit. I love to study, and I love to swim! I successfully completed the U.S. Water Fitness' master program and taught fitness classes for over a decade. Happiness to me is swimming a mile before the sun comes up! I have been riding horses for pleasure and competition my whole life. I love animals and nature. I go hiking almost every week with friends. My cute family and I love to go boating, and ride ski doos. I love to waterski and wakeboard-especially in Lake Powell.
I feel so grateful to be teaching in a school with the IB Program. I love the focus of the characteristics and attitudes of the IB learner.
The enjoyment of and ability to foster lifelong learners, both in and outside of school, is my goal.
