Some students have indicated that although they turned in registration for next year, they are not returning. If you are planning on transferring your student out of Hawthorn Academy to return to your neighborhood school, Hawthorn Academy must notify those schools by June 30, 2010. If the district school(s) does not know that you intend to transfer to their school by June 30th, they may deny you enrollment. The district(s) will allow your student to attend a school, but they may not allow you to attend your neighborhood school in order to avoid overcrowded classrooms. The following procedures have been developed to ensure that all Hawthorn Academy students who wish to transfer to their neighborhood school will meet the deadline. Here is what you will need do: 1. You must notify Hawthorn Academy in writing that you will not be returning to our school next fall by June 1, 2010. Hawthorn Academy will notify the district(s) that you are returning for you. 2. You must fill out a state transfer form and return in to Hawthorn Academy by June 1, 2010. Hawthorn Academy will send these forms to the district(s) by June 30, 2010. **This form is not available yet because the USOE officials are still developing the form. We will get it to you as soon as it becomes available. A letter to Hawthorn Academy indicating you are not returning and the school to which your student will be transferring will be used in lieu of this form until Hawthorn receives the letter from the State Office of Education.
